A list of "little joys" & "best feelings"

Updated: Sep 17, 2020

Because it's the little things that make the biggest difference!

You know that feeling I’m talking about? The feeling when you do something, see a sight, or smell a smell that brings up a wave of pure bliss, inspires a sigh of contentment, or even brings a big ole smile to your face.

For the plain and simple reason that I believe focusing on the positive is the best, and there’s a lot of tough energy going on in the world these days; I’ve compiled a list of some of my “little joys” and “best feeling” inducers to inspire that blissful feeling. And, also in hopes of inspiring you to pay attention to what brings those feelings of little joys in you…

-Taking off my makeup and washing my face

-Getting changed out of work clothes and into comfies at the end of the day (also read: taking off bra and/or pants)

-First sip of coffee

-The smell of fresh cut grass

-Crawling into the comfiest bed with fresh sheets after a shower

-Taking off hiking boots after a big hike and putting on sandals

-The feeling of the sun on my skin when it feels like I’m being hugged by God himself because it’s so warm and all encompassing

-Walking past a lilac bush and inhaling that sweet, sweet scent

-The smell of a horse

-That first view of the Rocky Mountains

-Driving in the countryside and seeing mama cows with their calves in the fields

-Finding the perfect parking spot

-Watching a thunderstorm approaching; and the smell in the morning after a big rainstorm

-Puppies (or any baby animal, really)

-Being dirty and sweaty after a great workout or outdoor activities

-Shavasana

This is by no means an exhaustive list. I could probably carry on forever and it would turn into a list of a bunch of my favourite things. Perhaps it’s a bit self-indulgent, but I hope if you’ve read this far that at least one or two of my “best feelings” spurred a feeling of happiness and joy in you, too. I also hope it inspires you to take note of the little things that bring you that sense of little joy, and that you allow those moments to string together more and more, and create more enjoyment and happiness in all of your days.
